Walasumbi Solomon’s Story
Hello, my name is Walusimbi Solomon, an alumni of Buiga Sunrise School. I studied there from primary 1 until 2017 when I sat my Primary Leaving Exams. My mother, Nanyunja Noel, was also a teacher at the school. Buiga Sunrise School played a big role in my life - it gave me a strong academic foundation and shaped my discipline, which helped me succeed later in my studies. My mother also grew a lot as a teacher there, gaining experience and confidence, while contributing to the growth of many young learners. For my classmates, the school created an environment where we could all thrive and perform well in our exams. After Buiga Sunrise School, I joined Sir Apollo for my O and A Levels, and later pursued a barista course. I am now employed and growing my expertise in coffee learning about sourcing, roasting, and the cultural as well as scientific side of coffee. My passion for this was inspired by the agriculture studies at Buiga Sunrise and my involvement with the Slow Food movement.
