September 2026 - New Beds Big Conversations and Something Fishy!

25 New Bunk Beds - 50 Happy Children

The new bunk beds have arrived, and the children are settling into their new dormitory! It’s the pride of the Sunrise campus, and the excitement is contagious. More than just a place to sleep, it’s a space the children can call their own.

We asked the kids what makes Sunrise special to them. Their answers say it all!

A Safe Space for Big Conversations

The Rotaract Club was back at Sunrise, this time opening up an important conversation about teenage mental health. Students explored their emotions, learned to recognize signs of mental health struggles, and spoke openly about suicide—a subject too often kept in the shadows. Most importantly, they learned that it's okay to ask for help and that no one has to struggle alone.

A great big thank you to the Rotaract Club for creating a safe space for these important conversations and reminding our students that their feelings matter.

The Countdown to Care Is On!

Everyone has been working hard to clean, prepare, and put the finishing touches on Grace Family Health Centre ahead of its October 16th reopening and medical camp! Behind the scenes, hundreds of job applications poured in. Doctors from Mulago Hospital and other medical professionals helped interview candidates and select a strong team.

Having skilled, compassionate people at the heart of the clinic is the foundation for lasting success—building trust in the community, providing quality care, and helping ensure the clinic thrives for years to come.

Something Fishy Is Happening at Sunrise

Our fish ponds are getting a fresh start! The ponds have been cleared and prepared, and we're just weeks away from welcoming thousands of tiny fish. The students are getting their hands dirty and learning every step of the process, from preparing the ponds to raising the fish.

It's hands-on education with a purpose, providing valuable life skills while helping Sunrise become more self-sufficient and putting nutritious food on the children's plates.
