The Classrooms Are Quiet… For Now
We closed out the first term with final exams, a successful Ministry of Education inspection, and exciting progress toward receiving our official center number registration this June — a major milestone for Sunrise and one of the Coalition’s big goals for 2026.
While students enjoy a well-deserved three-week break, Jovia and the teaching team are travelling through surrounding communities and the islands of Lake Victoria sharing news about the expanding boarding program.
For now, the classrooms are quiet — but not for long. We’re expecting to expand enrollment with even more students, more laughter, more songs, and more learning when the second term begins!

Our new girls’ dormitory is officially on the rise! The foundation has been laid, the walls are going up, and with every brick, new opportunities are being created for girls to safely learn, grow, and thrive.
In keeping with our sustainability model, every boarding student will also help provide a scholarship for a local day student — expanding access and opportunity for even more children in the community.

Music, Movement and Meaningful Moments
Sunrise was buzzing with energy this month as counsellors from the Plattern Foundation returned for another inspiring visit filled with music, dance, drama, laughter, and meaningful conversation.
Through interactive activities and small group discussions, students explored important topics like peer pressure, reproductive health, and career guidance in ways that were engaging, encouraging, and empowering.
The visit wrapped up with a special gathering for parents and teachers led by the Founder of the Plattern Foundation, celebrating unity, teamwork, and the strength of a community working together to support the next generation.

Computer classes are back at Sunrise thanks to our friends at Access Knowledge Africa — and the classroom is filled with excitement.
Young Sunrise students are building their very first digital skills, while teens and adults from the community are returning to class to strengthen existing skills, open new employment opportunities, and continue learning for the future.
There’s plenty of focus in the room — with students fully engaged and motivated. From first clicks to growing confidence, students of all ages are bridging the digital divide together and discovering just how powerful learning with technology can be.
