October 2025 When Resilience Meets Determination Quitting Ceases to be an Option
~ Newsletter Prepared by Eric Olipa
Grade Seven Dedication Ceremony
Sunrise had the privilege of meeting with the parents of our Grade Seven candidates this October as we wished the students success in their Primary Leaving Examinations, scheduled for November 3rd and 4th, 2025.
This cohort marks the 9th group of pupils to graduate from Sunrise since our first class completed their journey in 2016—an achievement that fills us with pride and gratitude.
We extend our deepest appreciation to our donors and partners, whose support has enabled our learners to remain in school and reach this important milestone.
Thank you for believing in our mission and standing with us.
Sunrise School Teaching Team
The mission of Buiga Sunrise CBO is to stand alongside vulnerable families and support their growth through education, health, human rights, community empowerment, and strong community systems. They do this through a rights-based, holistic, and family-centered approach that puts dignity and opportunity at the heart of every program.
Sunrise School, is truly blessed with a team of experienced, passionate, and deeply compassionate teachers. Despite the challenges and the impact of recent retrenchment, they have stepped forward with extraordinary resilience—taking on additional responsibilities to ensure that standards remain high while keeping costs manageable. They do more than teach hard work and perseverance; they embody it every day.

Student of the Month
Wanyana Kirabo Sarah
Meet 13-year-old Wanyana Kirabo Sarah, a semi-candidate at Buiga Sunrise School. She is inspired by Miss Nicole Van Seters, whose kindness and dedication have shaped her dreams. Growing up in a community where many children face malnutrition, Sarah hopes that one day she will be able to also help feed the hungry and bring hope to those in need.
Empower, Inspire, Support
We’ve nearly Reached our Fundraising Goal!
We’re getting so close to the finish line!
So far, we’ve raised C$22,206 of our C$24,000 goal for the girls’ dormitory—93% of the way there, with just C$1,794 left to go.
Thanks to generous supporters, 10 additional bunk beds have been donated, bringing us to 16 bunk beds in total. We now need just 9 more bunk beds - only $100 each - to fully complete this project.
Together, we’re almost there!
Sunrise Alumni Student
Nantayi Mable
Hi, my name is Nantayi Mable, an alumni of Buiga Sunrise school, I was at sunrise from primary four to primary seven .
We used to have vocational classes which brought pupils together, taught us new skills like crocheting, knitting and others. Sunrise had a very conducive environment that could help you relax and at the same time revive.
From Sunrise I joined Saint Balikudembe Secondary School for my O level and later joined an institute for a certificate in fashion and garment construction. I graduated in 2025, after two years of training, and am currently employed in the tourism sector.
I really thank Buiga Sunrise staff for their mentoring, the good nurturing. I appreciate them checking in to know our progress in life.
